Education and business continue to change, so in order to get the most from our Careers Programme and to offer our pupils a varied and informed outlook, we know that relationships with local employers, employment services, and voluntary organisations are more important than ever.

Throughout the year we aim to provide our pupils with meaningful Employer encounters, giving them the opportunity to learn about jobs in different sectors, opening their eyes to career options and the various routes into these careers.

With the help of local employers, we want to equip our students with the tools needed to make informed decisions about their career path, ensuring they are in a position to take responsibility by planning for their future.

If you’re a local employer, here are a few examples of ways you can help:

  • Provide work-based experience days for our pupils
  • Support in the delivery of talks, discussions and learning session about working within your industry
  • Assist with mock interviews or recruitment events
  • Provide invaluable, first-hand insight into the local labour market.

If you’re interested in getting involved, please send us an email at Communications@kss.set.org and we’ll be back in touch as soon as possible.

Updated: 28/09/2022 2.60 MB

Beverley Ashley – Enterprise Coordinator working for the Careers and Enterprise Company through the Stoke and Staffordshire Careers Hub.

The role of the Hub is to link schools and colleges across Stoke and Staffordshire to local employers to help them deliver world class careers support for all young people by building networks, supporting Careers Leaders in school and using the Gatsby Benchmarks as a best practice standard.

My role is to focus everyone’s efforts on programmes and activities that are most effective in motivating young people, supporting independent choice and positive outcomes for the young people of Kidsgrove High School. I work directly with Larissa Weaver, Careers Leader, in school and Chloe Jones and Sarah MacDonald, the Enterprise Advisers who are linked to Kidsgrove and give their time and expertise free of charge.

Atlanta are one of the fastest-growing insurance brokers and is a major employer in Stoke-on-Trent with offices in Burslem and Trentham Lakes as well as other locations across the UK and Ireland.   Our story started with Autonet in Stoke-on-Trent.  Founded in 1998, Autonet grew to become one of the leading Van Insurance brokers in the UK, with 20 years of consecutive organic growth. Autonet became part of the Ardonagh Group in 2017, with the idea to provide financial firepower to make acquisitions that would support other leading brands to deliver on the digital expectations of customers. The Atlanta Group was formed, and soon grew to include specialist motorcycle brand Carole Nash and high-street home and car broker Swinton Insurance, transforming operations and delivery while harnessing the strength and individuality of each business. More businesses followed, each bringing new expertise that could be shared across the Group.

Think insurance is boring? Think again. We’re a business that is always innovating and always growing. With 2,100 colleagues and 2.3million customers, we offer careers in front facing customer roles as well support roles in Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and IT to name just a few.  Our Atlanta Apprenticeship programmes are available in all areas of our business and provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and behaviours to grow your career with us. Our people are our super-power and we’re always looking for energetic, dynamic individuals with great ideas. There’s never been a better time to become part of our story.
